Well Bettye,
I can only say WOW WOW WOW until I catch my breath, I read only to
page 147 as of yet but could not wait to tell you. I went to work
this morning and since I work in a small building at a ski resort I get to
read between customers and it was sooo cold today that I read for more
than 4 hours and then when I left for home... I did not make it home in
one go, I had to stop and read some more for over half an hour for I could
not put the book down.

Greetings Bettye!
I just finished your book on “the Magdalene” and found it both
enchanting and somehow ‘familiar’ in its unfoldment, as if the journey
these women reported were my own…

Hi Bettye:
Our friend, loaned me your book to read before she read it herself.
I read the first 25 chapters, returned it to her, and asked Linda to stop
in and pick up a copy for me. I want this one in my bookcase to
keep. Your book is well-written, very interesting, and I love the
two love stories embedded in it. I think I now know what Yesuhua Ben
Joseph's wife looked like, how enlightened she was.
Thank you for writing it.
Love,
--MaryT.

Wonderful!
Powerful! Your book arrived yesterday, and after lunch I started reading
it. I allowed myself to pause for dinner and went back to reading
until I reached the last page at 1p.m. I was hooked, fascinated
by the story, and just couldn't put it down.
I had a wonderful experience halfway though. All my seals suddenly
flared open and I floated in another dimension for an unknowing time.
Something pushed a button.

From the minute I
picked up “Secrets of the Magdalene Scrolls,” I could not put it down.
It pulled me into the story and mostly with the fascinating knowledge
about the scrolls throughout the book. I would compare it to Dan Brown’s
books (DaVinci Code). I loved
every minute!

DEAR BETTYE
WHEN I ENGAGED CONVERSTION WITH YOU OVER DINNER IN CADAQUEZ 2001, I
NOTICED AN AIR ABOUT YOU THAT MADE ME THINK THAT YOU WERE UP TO SOMETHING
GREAT. LITTLE DID I KNOW THAT YOU WERE COOKING THE MADGALENA IN YOUR

I HAVE NO WORDS TO EXPRESS THE IMPACT THE MAGDALENE SCROLLS HAD ON ME..
I HAVE PLACED A COPY NEXT TO THE WHITE BOOK, IN MY LIBRARY.
TWO OTHER ARE IN CIRCULATION, AIRING THE DEMAND FOR THE MOVIE.

Dear Grandma:
I am your biggest critic. You know that. I want to say, out of
all the books that I have read, THIS IS ONE that has opened my mind up the
most to and the reality that most people believe in is being ignorant.
My husband still hasn't read the book. He should though. I
commend you on your writing. With every page it got more
interesting. You will become richer in your thoughts and spirit.
All you gotta do is let the ignorance of people ROLL OFF YOUR BACK LIKE A
DUCK!!! I love you. Enchant me with your second book, AGAIN!!!

RE:
Your Magdalene book
This is my second e-mail to you in regard to your new book.
Bettye it is the best book that I have read in the past 5 years. I will
compare it to Laurence Gardner's books for excellence.
It is written in novel style but with full information and I love that.
I hope that it makes the best seller list straightaway.
I have to force myself to put it down.
I have done a limited amount of research regarding her and others.
Again, your book is so exciting and well written.
Thank you Bettye for doing this Great Work.

The adventures of ... four translators become interwoven with the
story of
Mary Magdalene, the life of Jesus, the legend of the Black Madonna, the
scandalous behavior of past popes, and tantalizing tidbits of Greek
Gnosticism as the novel speeds toward its conclusion.

Review by Marlene Moore of Northwest Writers
Is this or is this not
fiction? In this day and age, with new facts about our very existence
begin questioned and new biblical discoveries being unearthed, who can
say, beyond any doubt, that this book is fiction?
Bettye Johnson, author of Secrets of the Magdalene Scrolls,
shortly after a trip to France with a friend. "We visited the Languedoc
region of the Pyrenees where I became enthralled with the Black Madonnas.
When I came home I made a decision to write about Mary Magdalene. I
learned that there is almost no history available that is reliable from
the time of Jesus and Mary Magdalene. It became a journey of discovery for
me and I learned a Pope Gregory around 500 C.E. made a decision to portray
her as a prostitute and a whore."
Johnson also has a continuing interest in symbols and the knowledge that
she has gained over the years enabled her to decipher what she calls "the
obvious unobvious that unaware people miss."
If you liked The DaVinci Code you'' certainly like
Secrets of the Magdalene Scrolls
and all the secrets that it reveals.

I have a wonderful discovery to share with you...
Jan and I just returned from Sedona, and during our drive home we
couldn't put Bettye's book "The Secrets of the Magdalene" down. It is a
wonderful story filled with some very interesting facts. Bettye is a
remarkably talented and warm hearted women with a lot of wisdom to share.
The wonderful news is that we traveled all the way to Sedona to meet this
woman, only to find out that she lives in our area.

I highly recommend this book. Great story line every
page keeps you riveted - an all night read if you are
up to it. This story left me wondering, may be The
Magdalene Scrolls do exist hidden somewhere and these
secrets are just waiting to be revealed to the world.
True knowledge interwoven into the story line was
superbly orchestrated by the author. Those who have
the ears to hear and the eyes to see know this book
goes beyond fiction, it would make a great movie some
day.

~~~~~ This fascinating adventure of religious history and suspense brings four people together by ancient scrolls written by Mary Magdalene discovered when the main character, Ellen, falls into a cave. The incredible details of life during the time of Jesus alternate with a roller coaster journey for the characters. Ms. Johnson has wrapped an educational and passion-filled tome in a cloak of romance and tension. I can’t wait to see where her next book leads us.
I wanted to let you know, I've admired your
postings on GTW for the past year or more, and I bought and read your book
last fall, and truely loved it. As a Wiccan with very Roman Catholic
In-Laws, it was nice to read a story blending the many cultures of
Christ's
time period. Thank you for a great book!
To NorthWestAuthors,
I have thoroughly enjoyed the contents of the interview with the author of
The Secrets of the Magdalene Scrolls. It is indeed inspiring for me to
encounter a clear and sound mind such as Bettye Johnson's, who speaks so
simply, knowingly and richly about issues that should concern us all. The
time has long been due for the truth and reality of the Magdalene to come
out in the open. She is in my consciousness, she is in the collective
consciousness of humanity. We all know without anyone having to tell us.
It is just so wonderful to hear a voice who presents it so well, so
clearly, with the power of knowingness (and copious research), as I would
have liked to be able to present it myself.
Sincerely, Noelia Montesinos |
Review by Pavel Mikoloski
Move over The DaVinci Code
and make room for Secrets of the Magdalene Scrolls.
Author Bettye Johnson has written a fast-paced novel that kept my interest from
start to finish. In fact, I could hardly put the book down. Johnson carries the
reader through a well-researched journey of discovery of who and what Mary
Magdalene was. Using a format of taking the reader from the present time back to
the time of Mary Magdalene, the story begins with the discovery of hidden
scrolls in an unknown cave in the French Pyrenees Mountains by two American
women. The women team up with a disillusioned French priest and an American
businessman to have the scrolls translated while keeping the reader's interest
with suspense, adversaries, love and learning that the scrolls were written by
Mary Magdalene. At times it is hard to realize that this is a work of fiction
because it reads like history. This is a must read book for those who are
interested in Mary Magdalene, the Black Madonna, Knights Templar and why
knowledge of her has been suppressed for nearly two thousand years. Johnson
takes the plunge by stripping away the myths and disinformation. Take a day off
to read it because you will find it difficult to put it down.
